Accreditation is the process of validation in which an institution is evaluated. The standards for accreditation are set by a peer review board whose members may be professionals, professional bodies, organizations, government or other institutions.
Educational accreditation is a type of quality assurance process by which services, and operations of educational institutions or programs are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted by the appropriate body.
